Le sigh. Westley's house arrest is back on. He was markedly lame a couple of weeks ago, so we took him back to the ortho specialist, who confirmed a bilateral iliopsoas sprain. He has to spend the next 6 weeks on pretty strict rest, with twice daily heat, massage, and stretch therapy. He is not allowed to do any jumping or running around or anything normal puppies do, which has resulted in me trying a cocktail of various sedatives in order to try and keep him from reinjuring himself. That is still a work in progress. We're also going to do cold laser therapy at work for him since we're trying out a laser. The laser is supposed to speed recovery time, which would be nice. If rest and therapy doesn't help he might need surgery, and we don't even want to THINK about that.
So please keep your fingers crossed that Wes heals up well. In the meantime, here are some new photos!
First, a few of Wes enjoying the giant push comfy bed we just bought for him. He's starting to outgrow his favorite kitty bed, and we wanted him to have something soft to lie on when he is convalescing outside the crate.
Did I mention I'm still working on finding a good sedation protocol?
Next, we have jailbird Westley.
This looks like a rescue group "please adopt me" shot, no?
"I've got stripes, stripes around my shoulders..."
Ok, it isn't
all bad...
Aren't they adorable?
